Campaigns

What is the need?

The campaign tool allows content to be distributed to circuit players by creating advertising campaigns (in four simple steps).

In this way, it is not necessary to assign distribution criteria and categories to the contents; when one or more content items are added to a booking, they will take the information defined for the campaign.

Advanced Mode basic settings

Category

Tag or keyword for a type of content. The categories are used in the advanced mode to generate playlists automatically, respecting the percentage of the total broadcasting time that this category of contents has in the ratio (ex. 50% advertising). Category tags are applied to contents and ratio percentages.

Criteria

Tag or keyword that determines the distribution of content –for example, “All Players”, or limited by player location (city, shopping center, etc.)–. Criteria are used in Advanced Mode to automatically generate playlists, and are applied to content and players.

Ratio

Broadcast percentage (“screen share”) for each content category. A ratio must be applied to the automatic players of the circuit (Playlist with criteria section).

Player Mode (auto)

It is important to note that for the content included in the confirmed and approved campaigns to be broadcast on the players of the circuit, they must be setup in automatic mode.

To carry out this action, you must go to the players list on the portal, in the Inventory section, and click on the configuration form.

Playlists by criteria

Once all the steps to setup a project in advanced mode have been completed, the correct generation of playlists with criteria can be monitored for each player in the circuit from this section, by clicking on the icon (the system presents a list of the contents and its exact position in the timeline) or by checking the list of contents assigned to the auto player.

In case there is a problem in the generation, a warning that the system cannot generate the playlist is shown, generally if this happens it is because some configuration of the indicated parameters (criteria, categories, ratio) is missing, or there is not enough content to complete the timeline.

Campaign List

Displays the campaign list in chronological order of creation.

In the options menu of the list of campaigns you can see the details of each campaign, including the affected players (where the scheduled content will be broadcast)

For the content to be broadcast, the campaigns created in the system must be Confirmed and in an Approved status, and also the ratio that the player has assigned must have the category ‘tags’ that we have marked in the campaign assigned to it.

It is possible to create as many “tags” as desired within the groups of general content typologies, although it is important to bear in mind that if new groups or category tags are created, they must be included in the corresponding percentage of the broadcast ratio assigned to the players. If the new tag / category is not added to the broadcast ratio assigned to the player, the content will not be distributed, even if the player has the corresponding criteria.

It is important that, in case of creating a new location criteria tag, it is also assigned to the corresponding player, for a correct distribution of the programmed contents.

Campaign creation

  • 1
Enter the basic information for the campaign: Name, description, start and end date, and status of the campaign (confirmed or not)
  • 2
The distribution criteria and category of the campaign content will then have to be defined (the system displays the list of players that meet the selected criteria)
  • 3
Then define the days and schedules for broadcasting the campaign and add the content
Add campaign
  • Broadcast mode: By default the campaigns are unlimited, that is, the hourly showings of the scheduled content included in the timeline are not limited. If you want to define a number of showings per hour, you must select this option and define the desired number in the field.

Note

VIP passes allow you to add X passes per hour in case there is low occupancy and there is free time on the timeline (after the inclusion of all the campaigns scheduled with passes for that period in the players related by the selected criteria

  • General date range: By default a unique range is created that covers the general duration of the campaign (defined in step 1). Likewise, all the days of the week within that date range (from 0 to 24 hrs) are selected by default
  • Add content: From the selector of the content uploaded to the project, mark the one you want to include in the campaign. You can perform a search (Magnifying glass icon) for the content you want to include by title, duration or criteria / category tag assigned to the files
  • Assign specific ranges and / or schedules to each content (from those created in the campaign)
  • 4
Finally, the start and end dates selected for the campaign must be confirmed. Space availability can be checked month by month.

Extension of campaign duration

If it is necessary to extend the validity of a campaign that has already been created and / or expired, it must be edited (click on the pencil icon from the list of campaigns) and enter the new end date in step.

Once the assignment of criteria and category of the campaign has been confirmed, as well as the contents included in step 3, it will be necessary to review the content ranges and / or schedules assigned in order to cover the extended days of the campaign.

New Auto Ranges feature

In order to improve usability in campaign editing, a new system for creating and automatically assigning ranges and broadcast times to the content included in each campaign has been implemented.

This system is implemented in such a way that there cannot be empty time periods, they will always be occupied by one or more ranges. The general ranges can be assigned or not to the contents but in no case can they be modified individually by content.

Now, once the duration of the campaign has been defined in the first step of creation and / or editing, and after assigning criteria and category of the campaign, it will be possible to create / limit – within this general interval – as many ranges as you need to have to its segmented allocation to campaign content.

These automatic ranges are created by modifying the end date of the overall campaign rank. In the same way, when changes are made to the start / end date of the different ranges of broadcast dates defined in the campaign, the necessary ranges will be automatically created to cover all the days of the campaign (as long as it is not confirmed creating a new intermediate range).

New intermediate ranges setting options

Due to the operation of the new autorange system, when editing the start or end dates of a range, the dates of the previous or subsequent range are also modified, to thus cover all the days that comprise the general duration of the campaign. In order to minimize the editing work, in the use cases in which intermediate ranges are added (between the one that begins with the start date of the campaign and the one that ends with the end date of the same) has been implemented the option to create a new sub-range, instead of modifying the existing ranges.

Confirm

If it is confirmed that Yes you want to create a range, this new interval will include the dates that are free between the end date defined for the previous range and the start date of the later one (not inclusive).

Change rates

Range Schedules

The schedules, which by default cover all the days of the week included in the range, can be limited both in days of the week and in the broadcast time bands (unchecking checkboxes)

It is important to bear in mind that, if the default schedule is edited, or new limited schedules are added to the range, the changes will affect all the contents assigned to that range.

The segmentation of ranges and schedules can ONLY be carried out in the general ranges of the campaign, NOT in those assigned to each content.

On the other hand, if the date range of a certain range is extended, the new days of the week included in the date range will be automatically marked (in ALL schedules added to the range).

Important

The new ranks created are NOT automatically added to the content included in the campaign. If you want to add the new intermediate broadcast range to the content or content of the campaign, you must carry out this action by displaying the Schedules of each content, in the lower section of the configuration form (step 3 of creating / editing campaigns).
